Librarian: Jonathan Wintsch
LIBRARY DESIGN, FURNITURE, SUPPLIES, AND BOOKS – ALL FROM ONE COORDINATED SOURCE
“It was a total turnkey project,” says the DLI representative. “When Librarian Jonathan Wintsch returned from vacation, we handed him the keys.”
DEMCO Library Interiors created the design and installed new furniture for this library in an old chapel. Demco Media provided the books and DEMCO, Inc. laid in a full complement of library supplies.
“This is a service that no other organization can provide,” says the Demco Media representative.
The Franklin Academy library building was originally part of an old estate. The chapel room was being used as a recreation center when DLI set out to remake it. Jonathan Wintsch wanted a simple solution to turning it into a library for teenage students. He had been planning to go to several vendors when Joe Laura let him know that DLI could design, supply, install and coordinate it all. Jonathan was delighted.
The recreational equipment was removed and the room emptied. The only thing that stayed was the carpeting. Jonathan was concerned about matching the color of the carpet, and DLI used customized colors on the lounge furniture and the covered chair seats to make the match.

The project had some of the usual delays, so coordination and timing were a real challenge, but the one-stop shopping concept proved useful in dealing with the tight timeframe. Once shelving was delivered and installed, Demco Media delivered its core high school collection and put the books in place. DEMCO, Inc. capped the complete installation with a pre-arranged package of library supplies.
Jonathan was able to take his vacation and know for sure that when he got back, he’d have the library he wanted in place and ready for immediate use.
“Calling on the DEMCO family of companies made it easier to coordinate,” says the DLI representative. DLI could put the book ordering and the supply package into familiar hands and know that deadlines would be met – and everybody would be happy with the results, even the teenagers. And that’s exactly what happened!
“It was a unique opportunity to show just how convenient we can make it for the librarian,” adds the project manager.
